Welcome to the new EdnaBayAlaska.net website!

EdnaBayAlaska.net - your new offical source on everything Edna Bay. We have moved
the site to faster, more advanced servers. I can now expand the site far beyond where
it is currenly. I had to disable the Guest Book and the Visit Counter, but I will have
my own versions of those tools programmed and back online as soon as possible. In the mean
time, you may visit the original site and sign the Guest Book there. Be sure to update
your bookmarks to reflect the new address, and subscribe to this feed. I cannot transfer
RSS subscriptions; you will simply need to re-subscribe. Keep checking back! More updates
are on the way.

New images - and an massive overhaul of the Image page layout

I have updated the Images page with lots of new images, and I've completely redone the code
for the page to accomidate a new thumbnail based viewer. Now, the page loads much faster, and
the images are easier to see. You can also see them in larger-than-normal sizes by maximising
the popup window that each image is contained in. This works very well for the taller images,
as it makes it appear that you're looking out through a large window that you can look up and
down in. With the new popup system in place, it makes it easier than ever before for me to add
new images to the page - so expect them a little more regularly from now on.

The only thing that you need to view the images is a JavaScript compatible browser - which will
not be an issue, as all major browsers natively support JavaScript source code.

I hope you enjoy the new images, and the new layout!

History page update

I have updated the History page with images from Edna Bay's past. There are 4 great images
from 1965 during the logging boom now included in the page - they give a great presentation
of Edna Bay's roots as a logging community, and show what was the beginnings of a wonderful
community just getting started.

Site address change, update info and site layout changes

The updates for the site will be more often for a while. I have some new information and
photos to put on the site again - soo I'll be doing my best to deliver them to you. I'm
making small updates all over the site - some of them you might not notice because they are
in the Scripting of the page where you can't see them.

I would like to inform everyone subscribed to this RSS feed, that the Edna Bay website will
be changing URL's in the time window between September 15th, 2007 and October 30th, 2007 - if
all goes as planned. The website will be switching providers to a faster server system, with
hopefully more capabilites for me to take advantage of, and for everyone to benefit from.

I have also updated the layout of the site - from a visual perspective. It now looks more
uniform.

The new updates to the Java Scripting on the site have improved it's layout. The site
now looks almost identical in Windows Internet Explorer 7 to the way it does when
running on the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) standards adhering Opera browser. The
new layout is the way the site was always intended to be viewed - and there are still
some small bugs that are present. The bugs that remain simply cannot be removed due
to technical limitations of the Mozilla core that Internet Explorer runs on. The way
the site looks now in Internet Explorer 7 is the way it has always looked in Opera -
it's just taken me some time to work around the flaws in IE7's rendering system, to make
the site run smooth under IE7 with it's original intended layout.

For the best experience on the web, and for viewing the site (and receving updates) - use
the Opera Internet Browser (www.Opera.com).

Thank you for reading! I'll keep you up to date on what happens next.

New Updates Coming Soon

I have new updates on the way for the Edna Bay website. I have more images on the way,
and I'm getting ready to start work on the 'Places' page. Summer is finally upon us,
and I'm going to get out and take pictures off all the significant locations in the bay
- just for that page. I'll be making updates and changes to the site very soon - or as
I have time. Thank you for your support, and thank you for subscribing to the RSS feed.

Windows Vista Internet Explorer 7 Compatibility Adjustment

I've reworked the core components of the site to accomidate the new Windows
Internet Explorer 7 browser that is included in Windows Vista. It had previously
experienced problems when viewing the liquid CSS layout techniques used in the
sites design. The site now scales back it's display fidelity to accomidate the
current status of the browser, and it's inability to propperly render W3C certified
CSS web pages. I hope this problem wasn't keeping anyone who upgraded to IE7 from
using the site - and if it had, you can now safely view it again.

For optimal functionality and performance, please use the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium)
compliant, high-speed Opera browser, which can be found for free at http://www.Opera.com.

The XML RSS 2.0 Feed is now viewable without a subscription,
or a browser that accepts subscription to RSS based XML feeds.
I'm now using the cutting edge XML-XSL Style Sheets for XML
styling. This allows any browser, and any user, to view the
contents of the RSS document without subscription. However,
I would preffer that users subscribe to the RSS Feed for the
most up-to-date info on the site.

page layout for a rounder, smoother appearance. I'm in the process

Click the permalink to check out the original look, and then go to the
http://ednabayalaska.net/ address for the new site. I hope for it to be a
much easier to use design that will work on any PC at any screen resolution. I also
want it 100% optimized for search engine exposure. This is using the latest CSS Liquid
layout techniques for a dynamically adjustable website layout that accomodates any screen
resolution with uniform display results. The dimensions of the content will remain the
same on high or low resolution displays. The Layout is dynamically attached to the website
content files through use of DHTML and JavaScript. This allows the original site design to
still be used, while at the same time creating a rich framework that does not effect the
coding, content, or design of the original site.

The website is now multi-browser compatible, and can be viewed
on even very low resolution monitors. The start page for the
website now auto detects the screen resolution and browser type
that the client is using, and auto-loads a resolution optimised
version of the frameset. The website now adjusts to users on
limited resolution displays by rendering at 800x600 and 640x480
natively, aswell as the high resolution 1024x768+ native version
of the frameset. Now anyone can browse the site, including Web-TV
owners, Nintendo DS Browsers, PC's connected to their (HD)TV's via
S-Video, aswell as old PC's with limited display capabilites. The
website should now be accessible by anyone with an XML/XHTML, CSS,
Frameset 1.0 compatible and JavaScript enabled browser.

I have opted to remove the 'Other' tab and page because of it's apparent

New pages under construction

I am currently starting developement on two new pages for the Edna Bay website.

I am working on a 'Community' page and an 'Other' page.

The 'Community' page will contain information and photos of key locations and
functions that are located and happen around the community of Edna Bay. This
includes but is not limited to community gatherings, buildings, people, places,
key locations, attractions and services. I will try my best to get a small
working version of the page, aswell as a new navigation button, added to the
site as soon as possible.

The 'Other' page will contain misc. information on how I solved difficult to
overcome issues and problems discovered during production of the website. I will
share my solutions to these problems with anyone interested by adding the information
to this new page. Two problems that are difficult to solve and near impossible
to find solutions to even using Google, that will be included on the new page are:
"How to capture still images from an IP Network Camera and automatically upload them
to an FTP server on a timed interval", and "How to eliminate the horizontal scroll bar
in Internet Explorer 6 on an XHTML Frameset document". Other information will be added
to the page over time aswell. The 'Other' page will be completed as soon as possible,
but for now the "Community' page is at the top of my priority list.

Check back soon for the new updates; or if you are a subscriber to this RSS feed,
simply wait for your browser to notify you of the updates!
